OK, OK <g> ... first, I'm not trying to argue with anyone about
ships. I'm not a shipper of ANY kind, I really don't care who ends
up with whom (my argument being that they're teenagers, the
likelihood that any school romance ending in lifelong happiness is
very small, IMO. And anyone who comes back and says 'but the
Potters were school romances, the Longbottoms were school romances,
etc etc etc ... well, they're DEAD. Would they have lasted if they
had lived? Statistics say NO.)
But, back to this. I only have one comment, and that is that I
don't know about other JKR interviews about H/R, but in this one,
she doesn't actually say anything IMO that indicates a firm plot
development. All she says is that she thinks there's more tension
between H/R than H/H, which IMO means squat. I think it's a dodge,
personally. She's using questions and vague comments to guide
listeners in a particular direction, when in actual fact she's
saying nothing.
I won't disagree that she never lies (don't know enough to
agree/disagree), but in this particular clip, IMO she's hiding
behind words. 'Tension' could be simply a description of the books
up to now, where there has undoubtedly been more tension between H/R
than H/H. But does that mean romance? Maybe, but that's NOT what
JKR is saying. She also never discounts H/H. She deflects it by
throwing it back at Katie and getting her to take back her words.
(Very adept, BTW. I wonder if JKR practices at home in front of
the mirror??)
So, I'm not discounting H/R, but I don't see from this interview
that JKR is hinting at it. And I stand by my opinion that the way
she deflects the H/H question, then fudges on the H/R comment, is
actually a red herring meant to make the listeners believe something
that isn't true.
