uniting the houses as the sorting hat says they must, but once again
no Slyterins, I really hope that we dont get to the end of book 7
and theres never been a half decent Slytherin.

Me:
It's impossible to keep up with the posts (and no-one's biting
anyone's head off for asking about nasty Slytherins .. yet). I was
also disappointed by what I felt to be caricatures, rather than
fully (or semi-) fleshed Slytherin characters. I concede that
children accept them a bit more or rather, that overt caricatures
are acceptable in childrens literature and enjoyed by them (I write
as someone who loved Roald Dahl's wonderful books as a child). I can
see a definate change from PS to OOP, with all of the characters bar
the Dursleys, maturing into somewhat more realistic personalities.
To the Dursleys, I would still have to add the Slytherins and
espcially the trio of Draco, Crabbe & Goyle - Draco was a more
complex character on Hogwarts Express at the beginning of PS than at
any stage thereafter. With the sorting hat's advice about the houses
uniting and with the subsequent formation of the DA (wonderful,
wonderful development), I also felt that it was really *too*
predictable that NONE of the DA were from Slytherin (I concede that
the Slytherins who would've wanted to join, may simply not have
known of DA's existance).

Just my two knuts (with couple of sickes and an every-flavoured bean
thrown in). . .

Sara (who's still willing to sail on that old Draco-Hermione SHIP..)
