Well, I don't know about that. Sirius talks about James' parents with
fondness and affection and also graditude. He says they took him in
and treated him like their own son. And even when he moved out, he
was always invited for Sunday dinner...(mother STILL reading book, so
still not available for exact quotes, sorry!). That doesn't sound
like a family that is disinterested and unengaged. It sounds like a
family that is close and caring...caring enough to take in their
son's best friend at any rate.
