Ok, here's the prophecy:

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...Born 
to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month 
dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have 
power the Dark Lord knows not...And either must die at the hand of 
the other for neither can live while the other survives...The one 
with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh 
month dies..."

After that the little Trelawney sank back.  So, that's the whole 
propehcy.  The interesting thing is that the first time she says 
approaches, the second time she says born.  

We found out that 2 families thrice defied him:  Potters & 
Longbottoms.

I want to know why he went after the Potters & not the Longbottoms.  
I think that someone was watching Neville & his parents were his 
secret keepers.  That's why the DEs made them crazy with the 
Cruciatus Curse (is that the right one) because they were torturing 
them for information.  

I am of the camp that thinks that LV chose his adversary more than 
rid himself of him.  Also, interesting side note:  only ones standing 
at the end of the fight with the DEs, Harry & Neville.
