ME--Realize author slowed it for effect, but believe Dd had just as
much time as he did to cast any other spells
and secondly because Sirius was dead before he fell through the
curtain (similar to Cedric and Frank in GoF)
ME-Incorrect, by all indications he was alive: 1. spell color was red
not the green of Avadra Kedavra (sp?); 2. plus he gave Harry a look
of " mingled fear and surprise...as he fell through the ancient
doorway" so he was alive when he crossed the "barrier" to the other
side. 3. Also, Remus never says Sirius is "dead", just "d---", it
is Harry who supplies the word dead. Maybe Remus meant to
say "disembodied", "Doomed" or some other description of a person
crossing into the other realm.
Just my thoughts
