ME--Realize author slowed it for effect, but believe Dd had just as 
much time as he did to cast any other spells

and secondly because Sirius was dead before he fell through the 
curtain (similar to Cedric and Frank in GoF)

ME-Incorrect, by all indications he was alive: 1. spell color was red 
not the green of Avadra Kedavra (sp?); 2.  plus he gave Harry a look 
of " mingled fear and surprise...as he fell through the ancient 
doorway" so he was alive when he crossed the "barrier" to the other 
side.  3.  Also, Remus never says Sirius is "dead", just "d---", it 
is Harry who supplies the word dead.  Maybe Remus meant to 
say "disembodied", "Doomed" or some other description of a person 
crossing into the other realm.
