This passage is fascinating to me too. I don't believe that nobody
can physically harm Harry while he's living with Petunia. After all,
Dudley used Harry as his personal punching bag for many years. He
slugs Harry in the stomach at the zoo IIRC and of course, clocked
him good during the dementor attack. I had always assumed these
strange events were part of this protective magic...until now. That
scene is the first time I started to really wonder whether Voldemort
can also feel Harry's pain or intense emotions and if this doesn't
have something to do with the odd occurences that keep happening
when Harry feels particularly angry or threatened.

OK, it was far-fetched. Through most of Harry's life, Voldie is
nothing more than a floating soul, so I doubt he really does have
anything to do with those episodes. But nontheless, I'm glad to say
it got me thinking on the topic. Now that Voldemort is back to full
force, their bond is strengthening. I am certain Voldemort can now
feel when Harry is experiencing intense pain (somehow, obviously
Voldie doesn't have a scar - no wonder it took him so long to figure
out about this connection) and also sense it when Harry feels
extreme swings of emotion. He must also be able to see things
happening to Harry when he's dreaming, or has sufficiently relaxed
his mind and made it more receptive (which I assume Voldemort, who
excells at legilimency, would find not difficult to do). That's
dangerous stuff. *phew*

So, errr, that's what I think. Cheers!
