OOP: the point of the death?

Me:
I think one of the things Sirius's death did was to bring Harry even
more into the battle. I know he's already pretty well involved because
Voldemort killed his parents and now keeps going after Harry, but
Harry has been, until now, dragged into the fight. Harry is, of
course, very angry that Voldemort took his family away from him, but
he cannot remember what it was like to have his family around or the
the moment of the murder. He did, however, grow to love Sirius, and
he watched Voldemort's followers take Sirius away from him. He now
has every motivation to go after Voldemort and the Death Eaters and
fullfill the prophecy.
I'm not saying the murder of his parents wasn't enough motivation.
Perhaps Sirius's death gave him the extra anger he needed to go out
and fight.
