REPLY (Sue) do not know-but still believe he was alive as he passed 
through-because once you are dead you do not have a "look" of 
surprise, anger, fear, etc., plus recall that the phrases "wasted" 
and "once handsome" have been used previously to describe Sirius 
while alive in both POA and OoP.  Too, an earlier passage in OoP (i 
cannot find exactly where) compares Bellatrix's "wasted" "once-
handsome" look to Sirius' features.

veil)could be inferred, but I'm sticking with the former. Harry's 
denial and interruption of Lupin is based solely on his lack of 
habeus corpus. It strikes, however, that speculation about 
disembodied or doomed carries with it a suppressed hope that Sirius 
might return --something that JKR has told us will not happen.

In any event, whether before the veil or after the veil we can, I 
hope, all agree that after the veil Sirius was and remains dead.

remains dead (for now.  I missed JKR saying Sirius would never "come 
back from the dead" can you share that resource with me?  But, 
although I do not think his corporeal body will come back, I think we 
can trust that Harry with his ever increasing powers) will find a way 
to bring back Sirius.  We have seen too many dead people "come back" 
as ghosts, poltergeists, results of PRIORI INCANTATUM (sp?); viewed 
in mirrors,in Pensieves, etc.

I would like to see JKR use Occlumency/Legilemency or Penseive 
visiting to allow Harry and Sirius to visit in future. Do you recall 
if anything we were told about Occlumency/Leglimency in OoP limits or 
restricts it to the living?  There was way too much foreshadowing to 
indicate that communication between the present and the hereafter 
would occur-we can seldom ignore a little hint or clue which JKR
gives so it is not likely that we can ignore the 2 way mirrors, the 
voices speaking behind the veil, Harry's conversations with Luna and 
Neville, etc.  which all indicate he will speak to Sirius again.  I, 
too am eager for JKR to give us more details but still love to 
speculate.  You have great insight-Thanks!  : )
