I also noticed the scene with the Easter egg. (I'm a H/G shipper
too)
"It's Easter eggs from Mum," said Ginny. "There's one for
you...There you go..."
She handed him a handsome chocolate egg decorated with small, iced
Snitches and, according to the packaging, containing a bag of
Fizzing Whizbees. Harry looked at it for a moment, then, to his
horror, felt a hard lump rise in his throat.
"Are you okay, Harry?" asked Ginny quietly.
"Yeah, I'm fine," said Harry gruffly. The lump in his throat was
painful. He did not understand why an Easter egg should have made
him feel like this. (OOP US hardcover, p. 655)
I looked and looked, but I couldn't find any references to other
times when Easter eggs affected him this way. Was it the fact that
Ginny had just come from Quidditch practice and she was his
replacement as seeker, so when he saw the Snitches, he felt sad? I
don't think that makes sense, but one never knows with JKR.
As an aside, in today's broadcast, JKR said that Lupin, who had been
lonely for so long, and was so happy to finally have friends at
Hogwarts, that he let his friends get away with more than they
should, even thought he was a Prefect, out of fear that they
wouldn't like him any more. I'm so stupid, I never realised that:)
There are always unanswered questions at the end of each book. Some
of them from OOP seem to be, IMHO,
1. Why did the Easter egg affect Harry so deeply?
2. Why does DD trust Snape?
3. How did the Potter family acquire its gold?
4. *Did* James force Lily to marry him?
5. Who really told Petunia about the Dementors? She called
him "that awful boy"--was it Snape?
6. Who overheard the beginning of Trelawny's prediction, was thrown
out of the Hog's Head, and never heard the whole thing?
7. Why did LV choose the Potter's son vs. the Longbottom's son?
Any more?
