I never said that Harry's "good behavior" came entirely from Lily, or
that Lily was a "saint" and James was a "demon".
Here is what we know about Harry's parents:
James:
Loves his friends, and is very loyal to them
Hates the Dark Arts
Popular and athletic
Very, very, very intelligent
Mischevious (enough that he was not made prefect)
Arrogant
Conceited
A bully
Lily:
Loved her son and gave her life for him
Smart and talented at magic
Pretty
Believes in fair play
Doesn't like bullies
Has a temper
We don't know as much about Lily as we do about James, and know
nothing about her negative qualities.
It seems obvious that Harry has inherited some qualities from both
his parents (athleticism and loyalty to friends from James, sense of
fair play and temper from Lily). And the environment he grew up in
obviously contributed to a lot of his personality. His modesty and
independent nature come from his treatment by the Dursleys.
