Ali responds:-

I would dearly like to know where JKR says that Snape *was* in 
Slytherin. Don't get me wrong, I think we're meant to think that, as 
we are told that most of the Slytherin gang that he hung about with 
were Death Eaters. But, the fact remains that JKR has not *told* as 
that he was.

In terms of James being seeker for Gryffindor, JKR hasn't said that. 
In an interview, she said that he was a chaser, when responding to a 
question about what position he played for the Gryffindor Quidditch 
team. Only in the movie is James on the trophy as a seeker. I don't 
think that OoP overturns the interview canon, as James could surely 
hold the snitch without himself being a seeker.
