I'm not sure I want to continue this argument. When people choose to
pretend they don't understand sarcasm and analogies, it rarely
bodes well.

But I'll give it another try. I'm glad you consider preposterous the 
idea that Umbridge had good intentions. So we are in agreement here.
But this idea has more canonical foundation and would be easier to
defend (if someone wants to play devil's advocate) than the idea
that James was spreading sweetness and light in this pensieve scene.
