I can buy that, especially is Petunia was older than Lily.

I have a hard time with this one. Hagrid can't even keep Nicolas Flamel and 
Fluffy secret. I refuse to believe that Hagrid had information on Petunia 
that he either forgot about or discounted the importance of.
