I don't know... I think Tonks might very well prove to be someone special...
She took a liking to Harry right away, and for the most part, she was sort of
'spiffing' in my opinion. Unlike the other Aurors we have met, she isn't stern
and angry--- this may be due in part to her newness in the field- But, we
have never really seen her in action, and afterall it was SHE who got the
Dursleys to leave the house.... quite an ingenious idea. She must have studied them
and known that the idea of winning a lawn award ( I think it was don't have OOP
infront of me) would appeal immensely to her.

The fact that she can change her appearance is important. Somehow I think
this may be useful in Harry coming to peace with Sirius.... One last
conversation?

I liked her when we first met her, if for no other reason than she
seems keenly interested in Moody's concerns about not putting a wand
in one's back pocket because of the potential danger to one's
buttocks.
- "Who d'you know who's lost a buttock?"
- "Wand still in your jeans? Both buttocks still on?"

It cracked me up. But, then I found her character tedious. Yes,
she's clumsy and she's a Metamorphmagus. JKR seemed to want to hammer
that message home. Maybe this will be of utmost importance in later
books, but after a while, it made Tonks too cartoonish.

Her character was never developed any further. Clumsy, makes pig
noses. But, on the other hand, she was a minor character, so there
was no need at this point to give her the same depth as some of the
other characters. Maybe she'll be back and we'll see more layers to
her.
