Well, thats all interesting, however..........

Snape was talented in the Dark Arts, he knew more curses and jinxs
than most 7th years when he was in his 1st year. Harry, however, is
extreamly talanted in DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS. Granted, to be
that, Harry knows plenty of jinxs and curses, but he excells in
using them and other charms to fight against curses. Also, if Snape
had a crush on Lily (which I used to think) why did he refer to her
as mudblood when she tried to step up to his defence? We all pretty
much agree that mudblood is the wizarding equivalent of the "N"
word. Think about being a white boy with a crush on a lovely young
black girl, would you ever call her the "N" word, even to save face
with your group of friends (I know some of you might be thinking
Snape said it for that reason)?

BTW - All of this sympathy for Snape for the way he was treated by
James. I happen to agree with Sirius' explanation. They were just
15 and a couple of hotheads. And Snape was as guilty of attacking
James. Remember, we were seeing SNAPE'S Memory, not an impartial
account of the relationship between Snape and MWPP.
