I definitely thought this was one of the best of the series (although
PoA is by far my favorite). After struggling through GoF (she could
have cut half of the story away and still been too long!!), I was
excited to see a book that brings us back to the original feel of the
first three. The only problem I had with the book was Harry's
attitude -- okay, he's sixteen, he's seen a friend die, and, yeah,
he is a bit tired of having to save the world and justify his
feelings all of the time. But the bitterness surprised me. Could
this feeling of hatred he is feeling mean that the possession is
still happening? Hmmmm...
Me:
It is my favorite so far - I couldn't put it down. I wasn't surprised by
Harry's anger. He's fifteen and look at the stuff he's done - and no one
will tell him what's going on. I would have been a little surprised if he'd
been happy hanging around Privot Drive until time for school to start. He
knows Voldemort is back and wants to do something about it, but he's kept
locked up. No one on the outside will tell him anything. Even when he
joins the others, they pretty much keep him in the dark. The adults think
if he doesn't know, he will be happier, but instead it makes things worse.
Things would have been very different if he had only known the truth about a
lot of things.
What can I say - I've read the book three times so far. Can't wait for the
next.
