I agree, the Hermione we've all learned to love and hate would be a
horrible headmistress with her present personality.
However, we have allready learned that James Potter went from
absolute bully at the age of 15, to a wonderful wizard as an adult.
what I see for Hermione is something like this:
After failing hard at something, she matures. Maybe through a
confrontation with the house elves? After all, though her heart is in
the right place, she is very misguided in her atempts to help them.Or
maybe something world shattering happens to her in the new wizard
war, that makes her see other qualities than test results as valuable?
This leads to a personality change, she starts to see that there can
be more than one sollution to a problem, that sometimes things aren't
as black or white as she'd like the world to be. And it's this
Hermione I see as headmitress sometime down the line.
She has changed a lot since the first novel, more than most of the
other characters in my opinion.
Of course she will never be a new Dumbledore, but she will like all
the other headmasters and mistress before her bring something new and
unique to Hogwarts.
