I think that the whole point of my namesake (or is that the other way 
around - that I am the Mimbulus Mimbletonia's namesake?) is for 
Neville to gain confidence.

His best subject is Herbology (which is why Uncle Algie gives him a 
plant);
He has a very poor memory for passwords (which is why it doesn't 
change the whole year).

I think that those are the reasons why the Mimbulus Mimbletonia was 
introduced. Neville *is* a powerful wizard, but he is also very shy, 
but one of the topics of OotP was to get the shyness out of Neville. 
He has been getting more confident and stronger as the year 
progressed, it wasn't because his dad's old wand broke.


Mimbulus Mimbletonia (who simply loves OotP and thinks that the 
characters - not to mention JKR ^-^ - outdid themselves)
