Hi all:

I find this attitude very disturbing. :-) Nothing personal, but: Harry
will certainly be able to succeed in relationships. They are entirely about
*effort*. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, but like Dumbledore says: it's
about choices. You can choose to work hard at a relationship and make it
succeed. That doesn't sound very romantic, but I can tell you, it's the
truth. :-)

Not much to live for? Good heavens - he's a young man, blessed with talent
at Quidditch, he's made a lot of good friends in about a third the length of
his life lived at Hogwarts, he's getting a great education, he has personal
wealth for a solid start in life...just give the boy some time. :-) It's
very hard to lose your parents so young - I lost my mom at 22 - but even
though the sadness remains, one of the things it can do is drive you to
cherish people all the more. I think Harry's aim should be to look ahead
and have that family he longs for by *creating* it himself - marrying a girl
who appreciates him (if not Ginny, Hermione or Luna, someone who combines
the best of all of them ;-)) - and having his own family.

It's a possibility - the 'Narnia' series had been cited - but I personally
hope she doesn't do that. I think Harry's rightful place is living out his
natural lifespan with his friends and becoming a respected member of the wW.

Harry will always revere the memories of his parents and Sirius - an
important note about grieving - the point is not to "forget the person and
move on" - that's wrong, an insult to their memory, and next to impossible -
but to remember the good and to honor their memories by living well.

I think nobody's yet mentioned the most important lessons that will be
ground into harry's soul (I hope) by the incident with Sirius: the evidence
that some of the problem was caused by Sirius' lack of self-discipline and
not turning lemons into lemonade while he had the chance; and that some was
caused by *Harry's* lack of self-discipline. Harry's not to blame - no way.
But he's at a point where he *has* to learn to curb some of his rashness.
Some of his success so far is due to luck - a lot due to the good help he's
had.

My thoughts only,
Felinia
