Jo has never directly *said* that James *was infact* in Gryffindor (and on the subject, minor spoiler, um, James a Seeker anyone?)

Okay, I *know* others have already pointed this out. I've seen it. But
*after* seeing that I've also seen people continue to say that Jo *has*
said he's in Gryffindor. A direct quote from the October 16, 2000
interview which people are citing as proof:

Q. What position did James play on the Gryffindor Quidditch team? Was it
seeker like Harry, or something different?
J.K. James was Chaser.

Now, if James was *not* in Gryffindor, this is obviously something she is
planning to reveal as a big surprise for Harry. So what could she have
said if he *wasn't* in Gryffindor? Anything she could say would give it
away. She doesn't technically confirm it. And if he wasn't, then she
handled the question very well. I am *not* saying that I firmly believe
that James wasn't in Gryffindor. Just that Jo has either overlooked some
minor details *or* left some clues that perhaps he *wasn't*. Just that
*nothing* should be taken for granted with Jo.

While I'm on the subject, what is the general consensus on whether or not
Jo has changed her mind about James being a Chaser? His preoccupation
with the Snitch would definitely point to him being a Seeker to me, though
he could have just been multi-talented. Maybe Lily was a Seeker and he
was trying to impess her?
