I understood it as though Molly was a sibling of someone who had married one
of Sirius's cousins -- i.e. a Lestrange, Malfoy, or Tonks (although doubtful
since we know Ted Tonks was a Muggleborn wizard, and marrying him is the
reason Andromeda was blasted off the family tree). And since Sirius mentions
Molly first, this led me to believe that Molly was not related to Sirius by
marriage because of *her* marriage to Arthur.

What I don't understand is the 'second cousin, once removed' business. What
does it mean if a relative is 'once removed'? I've heard several references
to this in my family (as I have a large extended family), but whenever I ask
what it means, I never get a straight answer. Since Arthur is Sirius's
second cousin, once removed, what exactly is the relation?
