I think they didn't believe Harry. Very few people know, that 
Voldemort is Tom Riddle. So very few people know he is a half-blood.

If I am not mistaken, Harry killed Quirrell only in the movie. In the 
book, he was unconscious, when Voldemort left Quirrell dying.
