Now me:
I always had the impression that he just made that
prediction up because he couldn't really see anything. But
I don't think he really did "see" that. IIRC Trelawney
seemed to be egging him on asking him if he was sure he
didn't see anything terrible like Buckbeak being beheaded,
or something to that effect ( sorry, I don't have the book
with me right now) and I got the impression that he said no
to spite her in a way, or like redandgoldlion said, to
comfort himself. Just my thought :)
BTW I've been lurking for awhile but I really love reading
all your thoughts, so I thought I'd introduce myself :)
