Me:
Well.. no-one really *needs* to make those candles move - much like 
no one needs to make mirrors talk once they're enchanted; If this is 
sort of prediction/move_in_time-room, the movement would show which 
is the future and which is the past - also, candles come from past 
and go to the future; they flames may present lives that will, sooner 
or later die - either because the candle burns to end or because 
someone *makes* it die...;
