Prompting me to ask:

In the scene in which we're first told about the Secret Keeper bit o'magic, 
wasn't it explained that the secret is stored NOT in one's memory/mind, but 
rather the secret is stored in a single living person's soul?

If I'm accurate, Dementors' victims aren't candidates as they've had their 
souls sucked out of them.  They still have brains but no soul.
