Maybe I've missed it in the long thread, but I'm not seeing the
entire passage being quoted.
pg 604, GoF.
"For af fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something
like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes. But next second, Harry was sure he
had imagined it, for when Dumbledore returned to his seat behind the
desk, he looked as old and weary as Harry had ever seen him."
Something like triumph could be a lot of different things and Harry
only saw it for an instant anyway. I know the prevailing wisdom is
that V-Mort took on a weakness/virus or some kind when he used
Harry's blood, but something just doesn't wash about that for me.
Dumbledore looks as old and weary as Harry had ever seen him. That
suggests frustration, even despair. I don't know, if there truly was
now a way of bringing down V-Mort, that the gleam of triumph would be
so fleeting.
The "D-Dore will die" theory is sound. Perhaps at the moment when he
looks old and weary is when he knows that this will not happen
without his death. Kinda like Gandalf going into the mines.
