Just a minor correction here.  Sirius thought that Remus was the spy _until_
Pettigrew betrayed the Potters.  At that point, he knew Remus hadn't been
the spy, but that Peter had always been.  Otoh, he also knew that Remus
thought that _he_ was the spy, hence he had no reason to contact Remus,
because he knew Remus would assume the worst of him.
