I work in a library. Believe me, dust gathers very quickly. Hey,
there's usually a layer of dust on the bookshelves in my own *home*
and I dust them 
regularly! :-) No reason why the orb couldn't have gathered dust in
that amount of 
time, if it is the reason for Bode's madness.
