Here's another suggestion.  We never hear anything
about the Weasley's having close family or the
parent's having adult friends.  The Potters on the
other hand possibly still had living parents and we
know they had friends (Arabella Figg) that could watch
Harry.  But with as many children as the Weasley's
have it would be difficult for the parents to be away
from home.  Also, for a decent amount of that time
(like around the time the Potters were killed) Mrs.
Weasley would have been pregnant with Ginny, so I
doubt they would have a pregnant woman fighting
Voldemort.  Just a thought in defense of my favorite
wizarding family:)
