Probably Lucius himself is away from home a good deal of the time so
it isn't *his* instructions that are "misunderstood." Maybe Dobby does
something to annoy Narcissa, who says something like, "Get out of my
sight, you stupid elf!" which Dobby takes as "permission" to leave
(dutifully ironing his hands afterwards). (?)

Carol, who finds Kneasy's (second) theory interesting but isn't buying
it yet
