Where does Lupin actually say that it was a foolish mistake to get 
bitten? All I could find (quickly) was:

"....None of this could have happened if I hadn't been bitten ... 
and if I hadn't been so foolhardy ..."

I take the last remark to mean that he should not have been so 
foolhardy to come to Hogwarts although he was a werewolf (both as a 
student and as a teacher).

Did I miss something?
