I agree with you, Meri, and Dumbledore himself has attested to the
fact that Harry is being watched even more closley than he (Harry)
has ever realized. I often wonder how.

We all know that Dumbledore can become invisible without need of a
cloak, but we also know that he is a very very busy man and cannot be
in two places at once. He is at Hogwarts when Harry is about to run
away from Grimmauld house (over Xmas) but he knows the minute Harry
starts packing his trunk. Phineus could have been spying for him, of
course, but still, he wouldn't know that there was something really
wrong...

In fact, it seems that Dumbledore knows just about everything that
goes on in Harry's life, but is always convieniantly looking the
other way when something big comes up, so that Harry can get it
sorted. Why why why? argh! and How...

The Headmasters and Headmistresses portraits and ghosts, when Harry is at
Hogwarts. Maybe that was the small thing in COS. Harry, Ron and Hermione in the
movie are talking about the voice that Harry hears in Lockhart's room, then
Hermione says that hearing voices in the WW is not good like the Muggle world and
the portrait says she's right. We know in POA, that Sir Cadogan is having a
Christmas drink with some of the former Headmasters. Also in OOTP, some of the
DA said that the portraits have told them things that Harry has done, but how
many of the portraits have talked to Harry, whenever he is in Dumbledore's
office? Until Phineas Nigellus, none. They always appear asleep when Harry comes
in. They can go from portrait to portrait, and see what is going on. We get
the first sign of that with Sir Cadogan, shows Harry, Ron and Hemione the way to
Trelawney's classroom.
