I have been wondering about the portrait thing as well.  What if that 
picture Dobby gave Harry as a Christmas gift was supposed to be 
Sirius?  LOL!  Can you just picture a "toon" Sirius talking to 
Harry?  I wonder what the difference is between WW photos/pictures 
and the ones in Professor Dumbledores office...  or for the Hogwarts 
School for that matter.  The photos of Lily and James, as of yet, 
have never spoken to Harry, but the portraits at the school...  AND 
Mrs. Black's portrait too...  Maybe that is it, photos are just magic 
photos, but magic portraits can actually be communicated with?
