Actually, it would be quite easy for the WW to take in Muggle goods
such as foods, fabrics, or lumber. All you would need is for Witches
and Wizards with a familiarity with the Muggle world to set up
interface businesses. These businesses would change Galleons for
Muggle money at Gringott's, use it to buy the goods from Muggles (all
the while looking to the Muggles like an ordinary Muggle business),
and then resell the goods to Wizard businesses. Muggleborns and some
half-bloods would have the expertise, and it would be a good way to
make use of that Muggle money that the Goblins take in.
Of course, the only question is whether Muggles and Muggle goods are
so looked down upon that the WW would refuse to avail themselves of
this option. I think the chances of that are probably pretty high.
