This is precisely what we do ourselves and we are not talking to 
ourselves...

We have a problem so we talk it over with a friend or confidant (or 
sometimes a fellow worker with the young people in the church in my 
case). They often have only our information to work on but they see 
it from their perspective, they may point up a different facet which 
we may not have noticed. We probably tend to think along certain 
lines; I find that discussion with someone outside the situation will 
provide a much-needed bit of lateral thinking.
