Annemehr:
Throwing one more opinion into the mix:  I think Voldemort enjoys
calling Pettigrew "Wormtail" as a dig.  He calls him by the name given
him by the friends he betrayed, out of disdain and as a constant
reminder that he, Voldemort, defeated them.  Kind of an assertion of
dominance, with a bonus of cruelty thrown in.
