If so, then it's a perfectly good UK English word. We have a saying 
about "buying a pig in a poke" - to buy something or aceept something 
without looking at it. It derives from an old farming phrase I 
believe.

Referring to one change made, Harry would be quite happy calling one 
item of clothing a "jumper" or a "sweater" - they're both quite usual 
in UK English.

I am reminded of Oscar Wilde's comment that "England and America are 
two countries divided by a common language."
