<snip> If the Lexicon is always infallible, then I could make a
guess both the US and UK books are identical in this area and the
audio rendition is off since it's very improbable for 'bangs' to be
used in the UK edition... This then leaves me with the question of
what was the US text, taking into account the Lexicon references no
discrepancy, since it must be identical to the UK edition.

Actually, no. As I said in another post, KLMF's "hair" reading is
correct for PoA page 34, but there is a reference to "flattened his
bangs" on page 39. So it isn't "an audio rendition thing." The US
audio version is following the US printed edition.
Mandy responds:
Carol is right.
Jim Dale reads from the US printed editions of the books, for the US
audiotapes and CD's.
Stephen Fry reads from the UK printed editions of the books, for the
UK audiotapes and CD's. So what you are hearing is coming from those
books.
As much as I love the Lexicon, it is not infallible. Steve does make
assumptions and educated guesses based on information in the canon,
which are not necessarily canon themselves. I do have to give the
Lexicon credit for being right about the houses of the Marauders
though. After giving criticizing Steve last year for making what I
considered assumptions, those assumptions turn out to be correct.
Cheers Mandy,
