Bonny here:
But Lillian, LV DID put the imperius curse on Harry during the
graveyard scene, and Harry once again threw it off. He was obviously
either not informed of this ability by Crouch!Moody, or else he
assumed that he would be powerful enough to control Harry anyway.
I think the reason that crouch!Moody tests Harry, and becomes
downright excited when Harry comes off well, is because it shows that
his master (LV) was not beaten by just any boy, but a boy with
extradorinary natrual dark defense talents. The more he see's of
Harry, the more he considers him a worthy opponant of LV. Imagine if
LV had been beaten by someone with as little obvious talent as
Neville! That would have been rather a kick in the pants for Barty.
Instead he finds a talented and resourceful wizard, and he is
impressed against his will. That doesn't mean that he doesn't want to
kill him, it just makes Harry's remarkable escapes less insulting to
LV's prowess than if he had been talentless.
Bonny
