Potioncat:
In GoF when DD, MM,and SS rush in to save Harry from Crouch!Moody, 
Harry is almost frightened by DD's expression.  And at that point 
Harry can understand why he is a feared wizard. (I wish I could 
quote it, but cannot get to the books.)
While the quote Kneasy is using does indeed look like a euphemism, 
I'm sure DD could come up with lots of non-unforgivable ways to make 
a house-elf talk, but which he might still prefer to leave unspoken.
