Yes, and Hagrid went on to use magic.....

yeh mind not mentioning it at Hogwarts?'

(1) If your theory is correct, how did Hagrid get the bike back?
(2) Under the same condition, why didn't Hagrid just take Harry on
the pillion? Why bother with more magic?
