I would have a problem with more than Molly if she was portrayed as
perfect. One of the big reasons that I like JKR's books so much is
that she paints such real, complex characters. I get impatient with
books (and movies) that paint the long-suffering, always-right hero
and the one-dimensional villian who is nothing but evil and just
wants to take over the world. Of course, LV is exactly the villian
I've just described, but he's really not a main character in the
story, if we're talking screen time here. There are enough "bad
guys" who are very real and even have a few good qualities, that I
can overlook the flat, cliche character of LV.

I have equal impatience when the good guys are too perfect. Molly
may have some bad qualities, but I see her as a very good person,
perhaps overly-determined to keep her family functioning despite it
unravelling at the seams. I also see her painted as something of a
comic-relief character, with her wild emotional swings. Tensions are
building for her and she's reacting accordingly.

No, I have to vote in support of the poor woman.
