Bookworm:
After decades of use the wand has probably become 'broken in' for 
him, and someone went to the trouble to keep it for him while he was 
vaporized. Also, the wand chooses the wizard. The question is, would 
the ability of a new wand to fight against Harry's outweigh the 
strength and advantages of the wand he has now? Something to think 
about.
