Kathys thoughts:Couldnt help myself but to comment on this topic when it
switched from Molly to the twins. Hope you dont mind the intrusion.

I'd go even further : Molly couldn't act differently. I mean, whatdoes she
know about them ?
1. They got something like 3 OWLs each : no hope of ever gettinginto some
good studies or jobs.

Kathy:
Very famous real life people have never finished school. This isnt to say
that they cant go on and become successful. The twins actually over excel
in their charms, making headless hats, which Hermione is the first to
comment on how they were able to extend the properties of invisibility
beyond the actual item that was charmed. Professor Flitwick has even gone as
far as making a monumental display of their accomplished talents with the
portable swamp. School does not always equal success although school can be
the very key to success. The twins seem to have outgrown what school has to
offer in their need to further their ambitions. As a mother you can only
offer your children direction you cant force it on them or embarrass them to
another siblings accomplishments. All children are different and with these
two boys that would be an understatement.

Del:
2. They want to drop out of school, and don't want to study anyfurther.

Kathy:
The twins wanted to quit but out of respect for their mother they stayed in
school because they felt it would hurt Molly too much with everything she
was already dealing with over Percy. They said that they already got their
OWLs so what good was it to stay on for NEWTs. On the twins departure from
the school they said, I think weve outgrown full-time education Time to
test our talents in the real world The twins felt that school had offered
them all it could and it was time to put what they did learn to use. It
looks like they succeeded by the way they were dressed at the train platform
at the end of the book.

Del:
3. They have no source of income whatsoever (she doesn't know aboutthe TWT
winnings)

Kathy:
Harry told Ron and Hermione in OOP pg.680 that he gave the twins his
triwizard winnings to start the joke shop. Ron asked could he tell his mom
and Harry said, Yeah, I suppose youd better Specially if she thinks
theyre receiving stolen cauldrons or something I take it from this quote
that Molly does know about the money.

Del:
4. They don't care about anything but having fun (a bit like kids inthe RL
who spend all their free time playing video games)

Kathy:
On the contrary the twins are always at work in experimenting to make the
joke shop a reality. They probably take their work much more seriously than
their studies.

Del:
5. They are quite irresponsible and don't seem to give much value
to*anything* : authority, life (theirs or others'), feelings...

Kathy:
The twins are constantly protecting their parents feelings especially where
it concerns the way Molly and Arthur have both been treated by Percy. Again
when Ron was not doing well in the Quidditch game one of the boys said that
they couldnt even bring themselves to take the mickey out on him because
they felt so bad for him. They are always there for Harry usually doing
something that they shouldnt, like stealing the car to rescue Harry or
making a diversion to give Harry time to talk to Sirius. The twins dont do
things in a uniform (politically correct) way but they are very protective
and concerning when it comes to their family and friends.

Del:
So what are we left with ? Two almost-adults who only seem to wantto have
fun, don't seem to acknowledge the laws (legal, social orphysical) of the
world, have no feasible plans for the future (nostudy and apparently no
money), and live in their own private world.I'd say any conscientious parent
would panic and try to put somesense in their heads !!

Kathy:
I think we are left with two highly intelligent caring people who will most
likely succeed. The means to which someone becomes successful may be
questionable but at least in the twins case they never truly hurt anyone.I
could see the twins using their money to make sure that Molly is more
comfortable from here on. I also think that their very unusual talents will
play a big part in the final war against Voldemort and his death eaters.
Voldy could sure use a new Weasley wand!

Kathy- who thinks Nearly Headless Nick should try one of their headless
hats, he would be sure to get into the headless hunt next year!
