Carol responds:
It was Dumbledore who placed the charm on Harry that involved
protection through living with a blood relative of Lily's. The charm
that Lily apparently placed on Harry ("ancient magic" activated by her
self-sacrifice) is a completely different spell that would have been
placed on Harry before Godric's Hollow (assuming that it was placed at
all). It has nothing to do with Petunia, only with saving Harry from
Voldemort's AK.
