I like both the idea of Petunia sneeking in to cuddle baby Harry and 
the idea that he was able to magic himself what he needed.  
Dumbledore has said "I have watched you more closely than you could 
ever know" (pretty close the exact quote, I don't have my books.)  I 
took that to mean that even on Privet Drive, DD was there.  It may 
have been a friend of DD's or another Order member who went to the 
house to aid the young Harry.  I personally think he doesn't remember 
because as he got older they remained invisible.  As far as Petunia 
is concerned, we just don't know her story.  But I suspect that just 
as James is no longer a saint, she will soon cease to be *all* sinner 
(though never fully vendicated).

Sue, who will take this opportunity to congratulate Pippin on the 
great post comparing putting Harry on Privet Drive to making choices 
for an ill child, excellent!
