Bonny:

I don't think that Dumbledore and McGonagall are married, simply
because she always seems to refer to him by his last name. If they
were married, you would think she would call him Albus... Also, at
the very beginning of the series, Dumbledore did not tell her what
was up - she appeared at Privet Drive without having contacted him
previously (which makes me wonder, how did she know that was what he
was going to do? Very intuitive) and doesn't seem to know anything
but rumours. Again, if they were married, I think she would be in his
confidances.

I agree with you about her becoming a more prominant character in the
future books, and that suits me just fine - I am a big McGonagall
fan! I don't, however, agree with you that she will die with
Dumbledore, fighting the Death Eaters. I think that she will survive
the series and become Headmistress. There is simply no-one else for
the job! And, like Harry says in OoTP, she is always there,
intractable and strict, but still always there - and when she's not,
her absence is felt, which is more than we can say for Dumbledore
excepting when we see him leave.

Bonny
