IMHO, this description really rings true of our Minerva. Could you
have ever imagined her as a child? She always gives the impression of
complete, controlled, thought out sense and wisdom--never gets
ruffled. Also, when we look at her actions against those who attack
what is right and good, for example telling Peeves how to unscrew the
ceiling lamp during Umbridge's "Reign of Terror", we see that she
isn't opposed to agression for the sake of defense. JKR's choice of
name here is a strong clue to McGonnagall's character, and as
far as I'm concerned, puts to rest those theories of ESE (ever so
evil) McGonnagall. However, with all that said, I still wouldn't want
to get on the wrong side of her--remember what happened to Arachne?

Nice post! I think that Minerva is going to become a more prominent
character in the next two books. I think she is going to give Harry
private lessons (remember the Umbridge argument scene), and she is
going to die with Dumbledore fighting the DEs. (Maybe DD and MM are
married?!)
