Ah, Pippin. This brave but probably thankless crusade to persuade
others that vampires are integral to the plot is an example to us all.

Done it a time or two myself.
What a fuss there'll be if you turn out to be right. But like you I'll
stick to my guns; I might be wrong but I'm not uncertain.
Quoting the odds is not easy, there're rumours that vampires might
be non-runners, that they'll never see the light of day, that their
condition is grave and a stake-holder could finish them off entirely.
All in all, very much outsiders.

This assumes that JKR is not going to pull a fast one on us and
change their usual characteristics out of all recognition - something
she's already done with ghouls. If that happens, then Rule 1 applies.
