The Sergeant Majorette says
If by "all recognition", we're talking movie vampires --attractive
people who are bitten on the neck by other attractive people who work
the night shift and sleep days in silk-lind coffins-- nah.
However, while researching Bulgarian veela, (in ballet, we call them
wilis) I came across a way different concept of a vampire. They start
out blood-filled bags of skin which can be destroyed by simply
puncturing them. If they are not punctured within a certain amount of
time, they regain their living shape and have to go to another
village to find a new spouse who didn't know them when they died the
first time. They never live in castles, since eventually somebody
rats them out and they get drained by their kids. Or something like
that...
